Thirty-five years ago, a group of women had a vision to create an organization that would benefit their community by providing support and assistance to those in need.
That vision evolved into The Bikur Cholim of Far Rockaway and the 5 Towns.
Today the FR/5T Bikur Cholim continues to prepare and deliver meals to the sick, infirm, shut in and kimpatorin. In addition, transportation to medical appointments is available when needed.
Phone calls and visits to shut ins are also services provided by our volunteers.
We have a designated storage facility where a full inventory of medical equipment, such as crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs are available for loan on a temporary basis.
Bikur Cholim of Far Rockaway and the Five Towns services a hospitality room in North Shore University Hospital that is fully stocked with kosher food and amenities allowing for a more pleasant stay.
Bikur Cholim provides an informative Hospital Guide for Queens and Long Island Hospitals.
The organization provides numerous other forms of assistance, in a strictly discreet manner, for various health concerns.
Bikur Cholim of Far Rockaway and the 5 Towns was established as a volunteer organization and remains so until today.
